Pharmacy context
This community pharmacy is situated in a health centre. It is located in the residential area of Pemberton, Wigan. The pharmacy dispenses NHS prescriptions, private prescriptions and sells over-the-counter medicines. It also provides a range of services including seasonal flu and COVID vaccinations, and the NHS Pharmacy First service. The pharmacy supplies some people with medicines in multi-compartment compliance packs to help them take their medicines at the right time. This was a reinspection following an inspection in March 2025 where the pharmacy did not meet Standards 4.3 and 4.4. This reinspection focused on those Standards which had previously not been met. Since then, the team has improved how they check expiry dates. Each fridge now has its own data logger that alerts the team if the temperature goes outside the safe range for storing medicines. The pharmacy also updated how they handle drug recalls. Now, a few team members are trained to check and act on recalls, so the process stays consistent even if someone is away.
