Pharmacy context
This is a community pharmacy in the centre of the village of Bishops Cleeve, near Cheltenham in Gloucestershire. The pharmacy’s team members dispense NHS and private prescriptions. They sell a range of over‐the‐counter medicines and offer local deliveries, the New Medicine Service (NMS), seasonal flu, COVID‐19 and travel vaccinations, blood pressure testing as well as the Pharmacy First Service. In addition, the pharmacy supplies many people with their medicines inside multi‐ compartment compliance packs if they find it difficult to take them. This was a reinspection following an inspection in August 2024 where the pharmacy did not meet Standards 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.6, 1.8, 2.4, 2.5, 4.2, 4.3. This reinspection focused on those Standards which had previously not been met. In this inspection, the pharmacy was found to have appropriate measures in place to deal with risks. Near miss mistakes and dispensing incidents are now recorded and reviewed regularly, audit trails for clinical and accuracy checks are routine, records for pharmacy services are kept in accordance with legal and best practice requirements and suitable processes are in place to safeguard the welfare of vulnerable people. There is a culture of learning, honesty, and openness now, staff feel supported, compliance packs are prepared suitably, and stock is managed appropriately.
