Pharmacy context
This community pharmacy is in a shopping parade. It is situated in a residential area near to the town centre of Wednesfield, West Midlands. The pharmacy dispenses NHS prescriptions, private prescriptions and sells over-the-counter medicines. It also provides a range of services including the NHS Pharmacy First service and seasonal flu vaccinations. The pharmacy supplies medicines in multi-compartment compliance packs to some people to help them take their medicines at the right time. This was a reinspection following an inspection in June 2024 where the pharmacy did not meet Standards 1.1, 1.2, 2.2, 4.2, 4.3. This reinspection focused on those Standards which had previously not been met. The pharmacy had updated its standard operating procedures (SOPs), and these had been read and signed by all members of the team. Near miss records were being made and action had been taken to help learn from mistakes. All members of the team were completing, or had completed, a suitable training course for their role. The pharmacy had taken steps to improve the available space in the dispensary and reduce overcrowding. And medicines were found to be stored appropriately, and at the required conditions.
