Pharmacy context
This community pharmacy is situated in a health centre, located in the residential area of Ashton-on-Ribble in Preston. The pharmacy dispenses NHS prescriptions, private prescriptions and sells over-the-counter medicines. It also provides a range of services including NHS contraception service, and the NHS Pharmacy First service. The pharmacy supplies medicines in multi-compartment compliance packs to some people to help them take their medicines at the right time. This was a reinspection following an inspection in March 2025 where the pharmacy did not meet Standards 1.1, 2.2 and 3.1. This reinspection focused on those Standards which had previously not been met. The pharmacy has implemented a new set of standard operating procedures. An electronic tracking system provided the superintendent pharmacist with oversight showing all members of the team had read and accepted the new procedures. The pharmacy had enrolled new members of the team onto suitable training courses for their role. It had also improved some of the limited space available, ensuring there are clear spaces for assembling prescriptions and making sure medicines are not stored on the floor. Whilst the pharmacy has not been able to increase the physical size of the pharmacy, additional processes had been implemented to use the available space more effectively.
