Inspection Reports

What are GPhC inspection reports?

The General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) inspects registered pharmacies against five standards. Reports show whether the pharmacy met the standards, with improvement or enforcement action where needed. Premises ID is the same as the pharmacy's GPhC registration number.

Pharmacy context

This is a community pharmacy on the high street of Dunfermline in Fife. Its main activity is dispensing NHS prescriptions. And it supplies medicines in compliance packs to some people who need help remembering to take their medicines at the right times. The pharmacy offers a medicines delivery service. And it supplies a range of over-the-counter medicines. The pharmacy team advises on minor ailments and medicines’ use. And they provide a number of additional private healthcare services, including a travel health clinic, vaccinations, ear wax removal and blood tests. This was a reinspection following an inspection in October 2024 where the pharmacy did not meet Standards 1.1, 1.2 and 4.2. This reinspection focused on those Standards which had previously not been met. The pharmacy no longer supplies medicines against private prescriptions issued by online prescribing services. And the pharmacy team share learning from incidents in the pharmacy and make changes to the processes they follow to improve the safety of the pharmacy’s services. Enforcement action has been taken against this pharmacy, which remains in force at the time of this inspection, and there are restrictions on the provision of some services. The enforcement action taken allows the pharmacy to continue providing other services, which are not affected by the restrictions imposed.
